- Heights Finance Data Breach Information
What You Need to Know
The consumer lending firm Heights Finance was targeted by a data breach. According to a Texas report, nearly 735,000 people were affected!
Those affected may include: anyone who received a loan, inquired about a loan, or were associated with Height’s parent company CURO Management. If you were among them, here’s what you should do.
What You Should Do
- Follow-up with Heights. Heights Finance sent out a letter to anyone who was affected. It contains further steps and details regarding your specific situation.
- Be on the lookout for scams. Lots of personal info was stolen, including contact details and SSN or birthday. Scammers utilize this type of stolen information all the time.
- Freeze your credit. Putting a freeze on your accounts will ensure that any criminals who ended up with your information will not be able to do as much with it.
- Consider an identity monitoring service. Naturally, we’ll plug ourselves, but really any identity monitoring is better than not having one at all. The single biggest factor in determining identity theft is having been targeted by it before. Stop anything before it escalates.
