What You Need to Know

Scammers are impersonating Xfinity by sending phishing emails designed to create panic and urgency. These emails often carry the official Xfinity logo, but upon closer inspection, the sender’s email address has no relation to Comcast, and the messages frequently contain grammatical errors.

Victims are tricked into clicking links that lead to fake login pages or malicious downloads. If someone enters their credentials, scammers gain access to personal accounts. If they simply click, malware such as keyloggers can be installed, putting all personal data stored on their computer or phone at risk of identity theft.

What You Should Do

To protect yourself, never click on links or download attachments from unsolicited emails—even if they appear to come from legitimate companies like Xfinity. Instead, verify legitimacy by contacting Comcast directly using the number listed on your official bill or their verified website.

Legitimate companies will use your name and account details, not generic greetings. Always inspect the sender’s email address and look for grammatical errors or odd formatting—common red flags of phishing attempts. Finally, use a credit card instead of a debit card for payments online, as credit cards offer stronger fraud protections.
